What the game asks of you

You stand your ground as a lone pig while wolves come at you from the sides, armed with knives, chainsaws and more. The job is to hit back and get out of the way in turn: a well-timed strike clears an attacker, a mistimed one leaves you open. As the waves go on, the wolves arrive faster and fiercer.

Poki lists the four arrow keys, up, down, left and right, for jumping, hitting and dodging, without assigning each key to one action on its page, so this guide does not either. Iron Snout is the oldest game in this catalogue, released on Poki in March 2019 and last updated in January 2026. SnoutUp Games also made Bacon May Die, Cave Blast and Hop Chop.

Curator’s notes for a first go

  • Spend the calm start of the first wave trying each arrow key, so you know what it does before the pace picks up.
  • Dodging matters as much as hitting; not getting eaten is the point of every wave.
  • Expect each wave to be quicker than the last and hold your rhythm rather than pressing keys at random.
  • Watch which side the next wolf comes from before you commit to a direction.

Who will get the most from it

Older kids and adults who like quick reflex games and do not mind cartoon fighting.

Flaws worth knowing

  • Poki is supported by advertising, so expect adverts around the game and sometimes before or between rounds.
  • The wolves carry knives and chainsaws; the violence is cartoonish but constant, so it is not for the youngest players.
  • Poki lists only arrow-key controls, although phones and tablets are listed as supported devices.
